Every time I turned it on and off I could see it tried to move but seemed to be stuck.

The printhead was easily moved to the left. This fixed my IP3000 as well. Done Some use this problem solving is work to reset Error 6A00 in Canon Pixma IP4300. Canon Printers Called canon, went thru a few hoops and they said they would send me a replacement.
